Clinic History

The Buchanan County Health Center Outpatient Clinic began operating in June 1984 when Dr. Leland Hawkins from Cedar Rapids first offered services in orthopedics. From the beginning the clinic's goal has been to provide patients with top-quality, specialized care in a convenient, comfortable setting, close to home.

Today, the clinic has grown to include 40 physicians from Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, and Dubuque representing 16 specialties including: Audiology, Cardiology, ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat), Dermatology, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology/Hematology, Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Physical Medicine & Rehab, Podiatry, Rheumatology, Surgery, and Urology.

The beautiful and well-equipped clinic facility opened in 2003. It includes seven spacious exam rooms, two procedure rooms, two central desks and a lovely waiting room. A generous gift toward the construction of the clinic was made in memory of A.G. & Katie Kegler by their family. The clinic is staffed with a full-time nurse manager, Chris Nelson, RN. Two part-time clinic assistants help the patients and physicians as needed.

On the clinic specialties page you wil find a listing of the specialty services offered at the clinic, what type of patients would see these physicians and services at BCHC that assist these patients with testing and treatments.  For more information about the clinic all 319-334-6071 and ask for the clinic desk.
